Why Bentley requires a specialist
Mirror-Finish Installation Precision
Bentley's hand-polished paint has no orange peel — it's smooth enough that any bubble, dust inclusion, or edge lift in the PPF is obvious. Things that might slide on other cars stand out immediately here. The installation environment and technique both have to be right.
Soft Clear Coat Swirl Prevention
The flexible polymer clear coat Bentley uses is notoriously soft. Dealership service washes, automated car washes, even careless hand washing can leave visible swirl marks in the finish. Ceramic coating reduces the physical contact needed during maintenance, and PPF prevents surface damage entirely on covered areas.
15 Satin Colors, One Film Choice
Bentley offers 15 satin paint colors — each requiring up to 55 hours of hand finishing at the factory. Standard gloss PPF would destroy the satin effect, turning the finish semi-gloss. XPEL STEALTH is the only option for satin Bentleys, and ceramic coating must be XPEL Fusion Plus Satin to avoid adding unwanted gloss.
Two-Tone & Ombre Layout Planning
Duo-tone paint is common across the Bentley range, and Ombre by Mulliner — a hand-blended color gradient — is among the most complex paint finishes in the industry. PPF must be cut precisely along color split lines, or in the case of Ombre, applied as full-body coverage because there is no clean boundary to follow. These are finishes that cannot be replicated if damaged.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a Bentley need PPF?
+
Bentley paint has a very smooth finish, so chips and scratches stand out fast. Repainting even one panel can run $1,000–$3,000, and a full repaint can be $20,000 or more. On bespoke Mulliner colors, touch-up paint may not even be available. Full front PPF on a Continental GT is $2,799 and full body is $5,999. On a Bentayga, full front is $3,299 and full body is $6,999.
Can you do PPF on satin paint?
+
Yes, but only with the right film. Standard gloss PPF will change the look and add shine. We use XPEL STEALTH for satin and matte finishes so the factory look stays the same while the paint still gets protection. It also carries a full 10-year warranty.
What about two-tone or Ombre finishes?
+
On two-tone Bentleys, we line the film up with the color break so the edge stays clean. On Ombre by Mulliner finishes, the color fades from one shade to another, so full-body coverage is usually the better choice because there is no clear line to follow.
Will ceramic coating actually help with the swirl marks?
+
Yes. It makes the surface slicker, so dirt and water do not stick as easily. That means less rubbing during washes and fewer swirl marks over time. In Florida's salt air and strong sun, it also gives the paint extra protection.
Where do rock chips show up first?
+
The front bumper and the leading edge of the hood usually take the first hits, followed by the rocker panels and the area behind the front wheels. On the Continental GT, the wide rear tires can also throw debris into the rear bodywork. On the Bentayga, lower panels and wheel arches see a lot of road grit, especially if it is driven every day.
Is tinting the Continental GT's frameless windows a problem?
+
It takes care and experience, but it can be done. The frameless doors and tight seals leave less room for error, so the film has to be cut and finished cleanly. XPEL PRIME XR PLUS is the tint we use for these cars, and the goal is a neat install that holds up.
Dealer PPF or independent shop — what's the move?
+
Bentley offers factory PPF options on some models. An authorized XPEL installer like Alset Custom gives you more coverage choices, clear pricing, and the chance to handle PPF, ceramic coating, and tint in one visit. We use XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS or STEALTH, and the film comes with XPEL's 10-year manufacturer warranty.
